For over 33 years - and after about a gazillion books - the MS Readathon has been igniting a passion for reading in children, all while helping people with multiple sclerosis.

ALL About the MS Readathon

Throughout November, the rather wonderful MS Readathon takes place in schools and homes across Ireland.

It’s a simple but truly special event that helps children improve their literacy skills, develop a lasting love of reading, go on epic adventures and raise money to support people affected by MS in Ireland.

gREAT BENEFITS FOR CHILDREN

By taking part in MS Readathon, children can hugely benefit from the tremendous power of reading in many different ways:

  • Improved academic performance
  • Enhanced concentration and listening skills
  • Increased curiosity about the world around them
  • Discovering more about themselves
  • Developing a lasting love of reading
  • Travelling to worlds they never knew existed

TAKING PART TRULY TRANSFORMS LIVES

The money children fundraise as part of MS Readathon is incredibly important to people living with MS in Ireland and their families.

It powers vital services provided by MS Ireland that ease worries, increase confidence and improves quality of life for thousands of people. These services include our unique respite and therapy centre, Information Line phone service and one-to-one support sessions.

fundraise online or offline

Children who sign up for MS Readathon can raise money by using an online fundraising page or paper sponsorship cards – or both!

We’ve also added an individual QR code to your dashboard this year, you can either print this out or simply have your sponsors scan it from our phone and it will bring them straight to your fundraising page.

If online fundraising isn’t for you, please contact our MS Readathon team on read@msreadathon.ie or 01 678 1624 if you have any questions.

super helpful resources

To help make life easier for teachers and home-schooling parents, we’ve created a range of MS Readathon resources you can easily download.

These include lesson plans for children, activity and colouring sheets and posters to promote MS Readathon and your fundraising. Take a look!

Recommendations & reviews

Our online Reading Corner is a great place for children to visit if they want to learn what other kids are reading, look at book reviews by young readers and post their own reviews.

Please encourage your students or children to visit our Reading Corner. They may discover some brilliant books they’d love to read during November’s MS Readathon.

Meet our awesome school ambassadors

We have a group of wonderful MS Ambassadors who can visit children at their school or in a suitable community setting.
